TVS Confirms To Launch Norton Bikes Later This Year In India

TVS Confirms To Launch Norton Bikes Later This Year In India

TVS-owned premium British motorcycle brand, Norton, will benefit from the new India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

TVS Motor Company acquired the British brand Norton Motorcycles in the year 2020. It was earlier reported that the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer will use the Norton nameplate to foray into the premium retro motorcycle segment. In the latest development, the launch of the Norton bikes has been confirmed by the company by the end of 2025.

The recently approved Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the UK will prove to be beneficial for the expansion of the Norton brand in India. While TVS is currently tight-lipped regarding the upcoming product line-up for India, the existing Norton portfolio, including Commando 961, V4SV, and V4CR, is expected to be launched in the country via the CBU route. These motorcycles are already on sale in the UK. The FTA will likely help to keep the pricing of the British-made motorcycles in check, and it could possibly result in better sales numbers. TVS aims to establish the Norton brand as its premium motorcycle arm in India, and the upcoming big bikes will assist in building the aspirational value.

Apart from this, a new range of 300-500cc is under development for the Indian as well as other emerging markets. The first product co-developed by TVS and Norton will be positioned in 300-400cc segment. Reportedly, this motorcycle is expected to be launched in India by the year 2028. This new range of entry-level 300-500cc bikes will be manufactured by TVS in India, for domestic sales as well as exports to international markets.

It is important to note that TVS has no presence in the 300-400cc neo-retro motorcycle space, and with the Norton nameplate, the Indian brand is looking for a strong entry in this category, which is known for its high profit margin and high volume potential. As for the competition is concerned, the upcoming TVS-Norton 300-500cc motorcycles will rival the likes of similar offerings from Royal Enfield, Triumph and Harley Davidson, amongst others.

Norton Motorcycles plans to launch around six all-new premium models by 2027, particularly for the US and European markets. We can expect a few of these bikes to make it to the Indian shores when Norton brand is officially introduced here. The new Norton motorcycles are expected to be unveiled around September this year, followed by their launch in India by the end of 2025.
