6 Confirmed New EV Launches Happening Soon In India

The electric vehicle market in India will see a flurry of new launches in the latter half of this calendar year with several major manufacturers preparing to introduce new models. Maruti Suzuki is set to enter the EV space with its first electric offering, expected to debut in September. Tata Motors, meanwhile, is readying the Harrier EV for launch. MG will follow with the premium M9 MPV and Kia is also lining up the Clavis EV. Collectively, these launches are expected to significantly expand the EV portfolio across multiple segments:
1. Kia Clavis EV:
Kia Carens Clavis ICE The Kia Clavis EV is expected to share its underlying electric architecture with the Creta Electric, introduced earlier this year, and could be offered in two battery configurations when it launches soon. Early projections suggest a maximum claimed range of around 450 kilometres on a full charge.
2. MG M9:
MG is gearing up to introduce the M9 MPV in India in the coming months with sales to be handled through its upscale MG Select dealerships. Targeted at the premium end of the people-mover segment, the M9 will arrive packed with high-end features. Globally, the electric MPV is powered by a 90 kWh battery pack which delivers a WLTP-claimed driving range of around 430 kilometres and similar specifications will be available for the Indian version.
Maruti Suzuki’s first all-electric model is scheduled to arrive in September, following its earlier showcase at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Set to be retailed through the brand’s Nexa outlets, the EV will be available with two battery pack choices. While detailed specifications are still awaited, the company is targeting a claimed driving range exceeding 500 kilometres, placing the vehicle in direct competition with a range of midsize electric SUVs.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV is on track for a launch in the second half of 2025, potentially arriving before the year ends. While it will share much of its underpinnings and mechanical components with the e Vitara, the Toyota version will feature slightly altered proportions and distinct exterior styling. Beyond these differences, the two models will likely mirror each other in terms of range, performance and features.
Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the Tata Harrier EV is slated for launch in the coming months. It will be offered in both single- and dual-motor configurations, the latter supporting an all-wheel-drive setup. With an estimated range of over 500 kilometres and peak torque output rated at 500 Nm, the Harrier EV will be positioned above the Curvv EV in Tata’s electric portfolio.
The MG Cyberster GT is set to arrive shortly, boasting a dual-motor setup that delivers 510 PS and 725 Nm of torque. This electric roadster can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds, with its top speed electronically capped at 208 kmph. MG also claims a WLTP-tested range of 443 km on a full charge.
