4 Soon-Launching New Compact Cars From Top 4 Brands In India
India’s top 4 carmakers, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra are expected to launch new compact cars in India sooner rather than later
As many as three new compact SUVs and a confirmed hatchback will launch in India this year. Particularly, the compact SUV segment will more likely witness the arrival of the next generation Venue, electric version of the XUV 3XO and smart hybrid iteration of the Fronx. The already revealed Altroz facelift is set to be introduced soon as well. Here we have explained about them:
Mahindra is preparing to bring in the electric variant of the XUV 3XO with its official market debut likely in the months ahead. Positioned below the XUV400 in the brand’s EV portfolio, the compact all-electric SUV is being readied to challenge the Tata Punch EV directly. Although detailed specifications are still under wraps, early estimates hint at a projected range between 400 and 450 kilometres per charge. It will have a lot in common with the XUV400 while featuring some distinctive design elements to separate itself from its ICE sibling.
Much like the reworked exterior, the interior of the facelifted Altroz sees substantial updates. At the heart of the cabin is a revamped dashboard layout, now featuring a pair of 26.03 cm HD displays. Additional upgrades include ambient lighting, new seat upholstery and the inclusion of an air purifier amongst other changes.
Maruti Suzuki could look to launch a hybrid powertrain for Fronx, judging by the recent prototype spotting. While the exterior styling is expected to stay the same, the key changes will come under the hood. The familiar 1.2-litre Z12E petrol motor is likely to be coupled with a mild-hybrid setup – possibly sharing technology with the smart hybrid version of the Dzire recently introduced in overseas markets. It could help enhance efficiency slightly.
Hyundai appears set to introduce the next-generation Venue before the closure of this year. The compact SUV is in line for a thorough makeover, headlined by a redesigned exterior and a substantially refreshed cabin. Although the existing engine options are likely to remain unchanged, the upcoming model is expected to arrive loaded with enhanced equipment and updated technology to keep pace in the competitive compact SUV space.
